Overview
The purpose of this unit is to become familiar with sequences, series, and their applications. A sequence is an ordered list of numbers. There are two main types of sequences: arithmetic and geometric. A series is the sum of the terms of a sequence.
In this unit, you will learn to write and use arithmetic and geometric sequences and find the nth term of a sequence. You will learn to use summation notation to write and find the sum of a finite series. You will also apply sequences to real-life applications.
